  1. I have a tree right next door. It was my mom who pointed out that in full bloom it looks like a tree on fire of a fiery orange. I missed it though. Might not be here next year. sic

    • Gulmohar and Flame of the forest look pretty similar from a distance and seem to light up dreary summers when they begin blooming. We have a couple in our colony and I love watching the trees begin to burst with color. I’ll pray that you get to see it next year. 🙂

      • I was also confused. Though both those trees are distinctively different only if you look closely. But what we have over here is just one flame of the forest among the many gulmohar scattered around.

    • Hi there! I just googled that and it turns out that you are indeed right. In India, we have different names for it – Palash, Dhak, Keshu etc. Shakespeare’s quote comes to mind – What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. But, your comment makes me mindful of the fact that I need to keep my readers in mind while captioning/tagging my pictures. So, a big thanks for that.
