Everyone has favorite memories of childhood.
One of mine is visiting a beach close to my Chennai house. I remember craving multicolored balloons (a wish that was not always fulfilled), munching on sundal (tempered chickpeas) fresh off bamboo baskets, chasing soap bubbles and salivating as my sis and I waited for the cotton candy vendor to hand over our pink clouds of spun sugar.
Having splashed around in the water, we would listen absentmindedly to notes drifting from a band playing nearby, while our imagination was occupied daring the waves to come get us. They couldn’t of course – our rock of valor, our granny, had us safe.
What are your memories of beaches?

beautiful!
Thanks Cindy. Have a beautiful day..or night, as the case may be 🙂
Very bright and warmth in the post.
Thanks Chaitali. Memories are warm things.
So true
So much color. I cannot imagine anyone not being enticed.
Haven’t been to a beach in years. All I want to do is walk along the shore now. That would be fabulous. Maybe this summer. Now we have snow.
Beautiful pictures. They remind me of my visits to Kerala… 🙂
Thanks Maniparna. My first visit to Kerala was a long time back when to Munnar and I remember the feeling of being overwhelmed by the greenery. It’s a place I can keep going back to.
Same here…I wish to visit Munnar again… 🙂
Such nostalgia! Loved it! My memories of beaches are building sand castles, inscribing my name on the sand, creating footprints only to see them getting washed away by the waves.chasing waves and then getting chased by them :p
Oh yes, building sand castles was an inevitable and highly enjoyable ritual, though I remember that even at that age I was queasy about sitting on the wet sand 😉 . Thanks for sharing your memories dear.
Such gorgeous images and your words transport me to your time. My childhood saw many lake beaches in rural Canada. We often spent Sundays as a family at a nearby lake. The smell of a meal cooking over the campfire stays with me still.
Thanks Sue! Good times with family make for precious memories indeed. Am glad you passed by and hope to see you around
