Spotted Seal at Ocean Park, Hong Kong

Spotted seal looks at the camera

????????????????????????????????????

With its limpid, big eyes and mermaid-like postures, this spotted seal at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park was so cute that I felt like bringing him/her home.

The largest theme park in Hong Kong, Ocean Park has rides, a huge aquarium, an observatory, education center and different exhibits. You need to visit the ‘Polar Adventure’ at the Summit to see this species, the Spotted Seal, which is originally found in the Arctic.

You can’t help but go ‘Aww!’  when you see them, but in real life

seals can be quite ferocious.Leopard seals, are in fact, the top predators in Antarctica and even prey on other seals! There are 32 types or species of seals, of which only 18 are ‘true seals’ as they are earless.

The largest one is the Southern Elephant Seal (males can be over 20 feet long and almost 4,000 kg or 8,800 pounds) and the smallest the Ringed Seal (around 5 feet long and 50-70 kg or 110-150 pounds). Baikal Seals are the only completely freshwater seal and live around Lake Baikal in Russia.
